, Navruz, Nauryz, Navroj ... depending on where you hold, this is a new year festival of Persian origin which coincides with the spring equinox. Their roots are in the countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and much of the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey and the Chinese Xinjiang.
Despite the variations of how Nouruz celebrated in each country, the central motif is the same as in the rites and in the symbolism: to welcome the spring with a desire for renewal and harmony between people . In ancient times, even wars they stopped during the time of Nouruz, to make way for banquets where they lacked the traditional soup meat and sumalak.
Today, families celebrate the holiday for a day, from morning till night, and organized shows in the streets, with neighbors and friends who gather to eat, drink and participate in traditional games.
In 2009, UNESCO included the Nouruz as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
